How to replace the Node on existing maps after Node customisation
November 3, 2006 (kb#115)
If you have existing maps for which you want to replace the node, you can use one of two methods. Remember to always save a copy of the files before changing them:
First (and easier) method:
- Open the old map and copy all the shapes (except the node) into the clipboard. Create a new map and paste the shapes into it and then drag on a new node. Save file over the old map.
Second method:
- Open the old map
- Close the existing Mapping Edition stencil (right click on title bar and select Close) and open the new stencil(File, Shapes, then Process Navigator or Open Stencil to browse to where the stencil is)
- Open the Document Stencil (File, Shapes, Show Document Stencil)
- Delete the node from all the maps in the file
- Delete the 'Node' icon from the Document Stencil
- Close the Document Stencil (right click on title bar and select close)
- Drag the new node onto each page from the new Mapping Edition stencil
- If the page had a Back Button, then ensure that this is still visible (you may need to send the Node to the back - Shape, Order, Send to Back)
- Close and save the file over the old map.
The second method works better for files with many maps on different pages, the Document Stencil change only needs to be done once, though the deletion and recreation of the node will need to be done on every page. This is because the deletion of the Node on the Document Stencil breaks the link between the page node and the Document Stencil.
